On November 8, the French-Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI France Russie) hosted a presentation in Moscow to introduce its Arbitration Court and Mediation Center. During the business breakfast, domestic and international participants discussed development prospects for arbitration courts within the Russian Federation alongside the overall efficacy of mediation proceedings.
An arbitration court serves as an independent, alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanism for resolving various conflicts between both Russian and foreign legal entities and individuals. Distinct from state courts, arbitration offers several key advantages, most notably expedited settlement timelines and the opportunity for parties to select qualified arbitrators. Speakers highlighted that the Arbitration Court at the French-Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI France Russie) in Moscow operates in strict compliance with Russian legislation.
The business breakfast also featured a presentation of the CCI France Russie Mediation Center, highlighting it as an innovative avenue for corporations and entrepreneurs to settle disputes through out-of-court negotiations. Facilitated by an independent, impartial third-party neutral (the mediator) who lacks adjudicative authority, mediation enables parties to constructively discuss and resolve conflicts in a non-adversarial environment, thereby preserving commercial relationships. The benefits of this procedure continue to grow in relevance: parties retain full control over the outcome, save time, reduce expenditures, and conserve corporate resources by mutually structuring their own settlement agreements.
The event offered a unique forum for both CCI France Russie members and invited guests—including BRACE Law Firm attorneys Alexey Shadrin and Vladislav Sheludyaev—to exchange insights on these pressing issues and celebrate a milestone event: the 20th anniversary of the French-Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. For two decades, the French-Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry has strengthened economic and trade relations between France and Russia, fostering investment, constructive dialogue, and a deeper alignment of French and Russian commercial realities.
